About Us

Ryan and Joey met during his chief general surgery year as a resident and her fourth year of medical school. He grew up in New Mexico and she is a Texas girl. Today Ryan is an attending general surgeon at Wilford Hall in San Antonio and Joey is a second year OBGYN resident in Galveston TX. They have a new puppy; her name is Rusty and she loves the beach, her friend Ammo, and raw hide bones! We are each blessed with wonderful parents, Kelley, Joe, family, and friends. It will be exciting to plan our wedding now that we are engaged!

Setting the date


Ryan and I enjoyed a weekend by the beach and at home with movies and adenoviruses together. We set the wedding date, May 22, 2010 and started the guest list!



Our pup:
Rusty's new favorite treat is ice chips, especially in the Texas heat. Lately, she has been researching her ancestry and believes she may be a Rhodesian Ridgeback. . . her self image has not suffered at all. As I write this, she is dreaming about treats, hunting lions, and safari adventures with other pups.

The Proposal


On Sunday, August 2nd 2009 Ryan took me to Bandera TX, just outside of San Antonio and sitting by a river we enjoyed a picnic together in the hill country. When it was time to leave, I placed our new puppy Rusty on her leash where a gorgeous diamond ring was attached. As I turned around to look at Ryan, he was kneeling. He said wonderful things . . including "Joey, Will you Marry Me?"

I said yes.
